To distinguish flexible and rigid lumbar curve from MRI texture analysis in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: A feasibility study
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Apr 14, 2018
Chevrefils C, et al. - Researchers attempted to determine the specific texture features of lumbar postural muscles on MRI that could distinguish flexible from rigid lumbar scoliotic curves. The enrollment consisted of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis and scheduled for surgery. MRI using texture information of muscle was assessed for distinguishing flexible from rigid scoliotic curves. Findings displayed that some postural muscle such as the spinal erector and the psoas major exhibited a greater tendency to reflect the curve flexibility of a scoliotic participant.
