Tissue microarray analysis indicates hedgehog signaling as a potential prognostic factor in intermediate-risk prostate cancer

BMC Cancer Sep 14, 2017

Gonnissen A, et al. - This retrospective study aspired to compare the activation status of the Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway between benign and tumor tissue and to assess the clinical significance of Hh signaling in prostate cancer (PCa). As high epithelial GLI2 expression positively correlated with a higher pathological Gleason score, Hh signaling activation appeared to reflect aggressive tumoral behavior. This study highlighted higher epithelial GLI3 expression as an independent marker of a more favorable prognosis.
