Adly A, et al. - The clinicians performed this systematic review to assess the appropriate timing of tracheostomy in patients with prolonged intubation regarding the incidence of hospital-acquired pneumonia, mortality, length of stay in intensive care unit (ICU) and duration of artificial ventilation. For both adults and pediatric patients with prolonged intubation, early tracheostomy within 7 days of intubation ough to be done.
