Timing of susceptibility to mortality and heart failure in patients with pre-existing atrial fibrillation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 16, 2017
Hioki H, et al. – This study was designed to compare the prognostic impact of pre–existing atrial fibrillation (AF) and new–onset AF (NOAF) following transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) . According to findings, post– TAVI, the risk of all–cause death and rehospitalization for heart failure (HF) was reported to be increased in the presence of pre–existing AF, in comparison with NOAF or sinus rhythm [SR]. Moreover, it was noted that there was a specific timing of susceptibility to all–cause death and rehospitalization for HF after TAVI.
