Timing of laparotomy and closure in burn patients with abdominal compartment syndrome: Affects on survival
Journal of the American College of Surgeons Apr 05, 2018
Ramirez JI, et al. - Researchers assessed whether a strategy of immediate laparotomy and early fascial closure in burn patients with abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) could improve the outcomes. They noted much higher survival rates than previously reported in burned patients with ACS via immediate laparotomy. Higher survival was observed when ACS was diagnosed during initial resuscitation. Compared with later fascial closure, fascial closure within 48 hours was associated with improved survival.
