Timing of esophagectomy after neoadjuvant chemoradiation treatment in squamous cell carcinoma
Surgery Jun 17, 2018
Franko J, et al. - The relation between elapsed time from completion of neoadjuvant (combined) chemotherapy and radiation (nCRT) to esophagectomy and postsurgical mortality and overall survival was analyzed. From the National Cancer Database, researchers identified patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (n = 1,244) of the esophagus diagnosed between 2003 and 2011, treated with nCRT followed by esophagectomy within 26 weeks after completion of nCRT. The time interval between completion of nCRT and esophagectomy did not affect perioperative mortality and overall survival among patients with SCC histology.
