The Journal of Emergency Medicine May 16, 2018
Thangavelu A, et al. - Early laparoscopic cholecystectomy and delayed laparoscopic cholecystectomy were compared and discussed regarding their benefits in the treatment of acute cholecystitis. Early laparoscopic cholecystectomy resulted in an overall better quality of life, lower morbidity rates, and lower hospital cost compared to delayed laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Ultimately, emergency physicians should manage acute cholecystitis on the bases of patient's clinical status and available resources in their particular hospital.
