Time-dependent differences in cortical measures and their associations with behavioral measures following mild traumatic brain injury
Human Brain Mapping Jan 26, 2018
Bajaj S, et al. - Researchers performed this study to compare differences in brain structure, specifically cortical thickness (CT), cortical volume (CV), and cortical surface area (CSA) in individuals who sustained a recent mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and healthy controls (HCs). During the early stages of mTBI, alterations in CT and associated neuropsychological assessments could be more prominent. However, during the chronic stages of mTBI, alterations in CSA could reflect compensatory structural recovery.
