Time-dependent COVID-19 mortality in patients with cancer: An updated analysis of the OnCovid registry
JAMA Dec 02, 2021
Pinato DJ, Patel M, Scotti L, et al. - Researchers examined whether severity and mortality from COVID-19 among patients with cancer have improved during the course of the pandemic in Europe.
OnCovid, which is a European registry, obtains data on consecutive patients with solid or hematologic cancer and COVID-19.
In this multicenter case series study, researchers included 2,795 consecutive patients at data cutoff using real-world data from 35 institutions across 6 countries (UK, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, and Germany).
A total of 2,634 patients were eligible for analysis.
Findings revealed a significant time-dependent improvement in the risk of death at 14 days and at 3 months.
This improvement may be linked with earlier diagnosis and improved disease management.
