Time course and clinical characterization of cisplatin-induced ototoxicity after treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma in a South East Asian population
Head & Neck Aug 16, 2018
Chan SL, et al. - In patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), authors sought to characterize the clinical course of hearing loss and the clinical factors impacting its severity. From about 3 months posttreatment, cisplatin led to high-frequency hearing impairment, but no significant hearing impairment was conferred by radiotherapy (RT) in the first 2 years. Threshold shifts, especially at high frequencies are significantly affected by cumulative cisplatin dose and cochlear RT dose. Compared to the RT group, the CRT groups had worse CTCAE grades.
