Time between diagnosis and surgical treatment on pathological and clinical outcomes in prostate cancer: Does it matter?
World Journal of Urology Apr 02, 2018
Morini MA, et al. - The impact of a delay between prostate cancer (PC) diagnosis and radical prostatectomy was determined with respect to oncologic outcomes. Gleason score upgrade on the surgical specimen, pathologic extracapsular extension (ECE) on the surgical specimen, and post-operative biochemical recurrence (BCR) on follow-up were assessed. The patients included in this trial had a mean age of 61.5 years, the mean time-to-surgery was 191 days, and 187 patients had biochemical recurrences (BCR), with a mean follow-up of 44 months. It was shown that oncologic outcomes were not affected by the time between diagnosis and surgical treatment.
