Ticagrelor for stroke prevention in patients with vascular risk factors: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of the Neurological Sciences | May 07, 2018
Malhotra K, et al. - Researchers wanted to confirm the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor for stroke prevention. In contrast with the control group, ticagrelor reduced the risk of ischemic stroke, combined ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes and composite stroke/myocardial infarction/cardiovascular death. No connection was revealed between ticagrelor and an increased risk of mortality or major bleeding events. In patients with vascular risk factors, data indicated that ticagrelor served as a useful option for prevention of primary and secondary stroke.
