Kobayashi A, et al. - This research was formulated with the intention of contemplating the thyroid function of asphyxiated newborns who received hypothermia therapy and its association with the neurological outcome. Transient low thyroid hormone levels were reported among asphyxiated newborns at 24-96 hours after birth. Data also indicated that the serum free triiodothyronine (FT3) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels between 72 and 96 hours after birth could speculate brain injury of asphyxiated newborns.
