Thrombus aspiration in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Results of a National Registry of Interventional Cardiology
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders May 04, 2018
Pereira H, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers assessed the influence of thrombus aspiration (TA) during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (P-PCI) in “real-world” settings, using data from the National Registry of Interventional Cardiology (RNCI 2006–2012, Portugal) of ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients treated with P-PCI. Adjusted odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were used to analyze in-hospital mortality. The routine use of TA in P-PCI was not supported overall, however, the short-term risks of STEMI could be improved with selective use of TA, indicated by the results of the propensity-score matched cohort.
