Three-year follow up of adrenal incidentalomas in a New Zealand centre
Internal Medicine Journal May 10, 2019
Goh Z, et al. - In this investigation, researchers performed a 3-year follow-up on ≥ 100 patients who were originally found to have benign adrenal adenomas that were non-functional or had subclinical Cushing's syndrome (SCS). During the follow-up period, it they noted that 5% of patients had adrenal incidentalomas (AI) enlargement of > 5mm diameter. A total of 92 patients had an initial diagnosis of non-functioning adenoma, and 9 patients had SCS. After three years more than half of all patients with SCS showed normalization of cortisol parameters, and 5% of non-functional AI patients developed SCS.
