Three to four years outcomes of the absorb bioresorbable vascular scaffold vs second-generation drug-eluting stent: A meta-analysis
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Feb 19, 2020
Goel S, Pasam RT, Chava S, et al. - Researchers assessed the results of absorb bioresorbable vascular scaffolds (BVS) vs second-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) following 3 years, the approximate time of complete polymer bioresorption. For this purpose, they analyzed relevant randomized control trials identified via an electronic database search. A final analysis with four studies (n = 3,245, BVS = 2,075, DES = 1,170) was performed. Findings revealed that between 3 and 4 years of follow-up, no significant differences in target lesion failure, target vessel myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization, device thrombosis, and cardiac mortality were observed between patients receiving absorb BVS vs DES.
