Three-dimensional reversed fast imaging with steady-state precession diffusion-weighted imaging for the detection of middle ear cholesteatoma
Clinical Radiology Aug 24, 2019
Khant ZA, Azuma M, Kadota Y, et al. - Researchers examined whether middle ear cholesteatoma could be detected using three-dimensional reversed fast imaging with steady-state precession diffusion-weighted imaging (3D-PSIF DWI). The study population comprised 81 patients who underwent 3D-PSIF-DWI at 3 T; of these, 73 cases had cholesteatoma, five had otitis media, and three had cholesterol granuloma. Outcomes support the utility of 3D-PSIF-DWI sequence for the detection of middle ear cholesteatomas, especially < 5 mm lesions.
