Thoracoscopic surgery for tracheal and carinal resection and reconstruction under spontaneous ventilation
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Feb 28, 2018
Jiang L, et al. - This study was designed to delineate and assess the techniques of spontaneous ventilation video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (SV-VATS) for tracheal/carinal resections. Researchers also performed its comparison with the conventional thoracoscopic intubated method. They observed that in highly selected patients, SV-VATS was a feasible procedure in tracheal and carinal resection and reconstruction. Thereby suggesting that for airway surgery, it could be a valid alternative to conventional intubated VATS.
