Orlandi E, et al. - In a retrospective manner, the efficacy and safety of ultrasound (US)-guided thoracentesis were assessed in cancer patients with severe thrombocytopenia. Findings demonstrated safety, as well as efficacy of US-guided thoracentesis, in cancer patients with severe thrombocytopenia. As per observations, even in patients with platelet count below 30x109/L, US-guided thoracentesis can be safely performed.
