Pac M, et al. - Researchers here described their initial experience using the HVAD as a bridge to heart transplantation in the pediatric population. They recognized that to bridge pediatric patients to cardiac transplantation, the HVAD continuous flow ventricular assist device could be safely used. Favorable outcomes of this device were comparable to the adult population. In a child with a BSA of 0.7 m2, the HVAD System could be safely and effectively implemented.
