Therapeutic effect of intravenous levetiracetam in status epilepticus: A meta-analysis and systematic review
Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy Nov 28, 2019
Chu SS, et al. - Researchers examined whether intravenous levetiracetam (IV LEV) is efficacious and safe in patients with status epilepticus. Searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, they assessed six randomized controlled trials with a total of 543 patients. Findings suggested comparable efficacy of IV LEV vs IV phenytoin, valproate, or lorazepam. No superior results were achieved in seizure cessation when IV LEV is added to clonazepam (CNP) than CNP plus placebo. Relative to other antiepileptic drugs, IV LEV may have better tolerability.
