The Yusuf-Peto method was not a robust method for meta-analyses of rare events data from antidepressant trials
Journal of Clinical Epidemiology | Sep 01, 2017
Sharma T, et al. – This research resolved to determine the validity of effect estimates for serious rare adverse events in the antidepressants trials. The data displayed that the method used for meta–analysis of rare events data exerted an impact on the estimates obtained. Excluding double zero–event studies could yield misleading results. The sensitivity analyses ought to be carried out via different methods instead of the Yusuf–Peto approach, in particular, the beta–binomial method, which was superior. This would ensure the reduction of bias and erroneous inferences.
