The volume-time index (VTI) is prognostic in patients with colorectal cancer peritoneal metastases undergoing cytoreductive surgery and intraperitoneal chemotherapy
American Journal of Surgery Apr 05, 2019
Kozman MA, et al. - Researchers examined the prognostic significance of the volume-time index (VTI) which is the ratio between peritoneal cancer index (PCI), an important prognostic factor in colorectal cancer peritoneal metastases (CRPM), and time from primary tumor resection in this retrospective cohort study of 182 patients. Outcomes support the independent prognostic value of VTI in colorectal cancer peritoneal metastases for overall survival (OS) and recurrence free survival (RFS). Thus, it represents the underlying tumor aggressiveness.
