The value of sonography in distinguishing follicular thyroid carcinoma from adenoma
Cancer Management and Research May 28, 2021
Li W, Song Q, Lan Y, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the sonographic characteristics of follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) as well as the value of sonography in distinguishing FTCs from follicular thyroid adenomas (FTAs). This retrospective analysis involved 28 pathologically confirmed FTCs and 53 FTAs in 78 patients who were performed thyroid surgery. The following were revealed as specific sonographic features for FTCs: an interrupted halo and satellite nodule(s) with or without halo ring. It was inferred that there could be a role of sonography in distinguishing follicular thyroid carcinoma from adenoma.
