The utility of myometrial and cervical ultrasound shear wave elastography in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Jun 09, 2020
Akbas M, et al. - The present research was conducted to investigate the potential usefulness of myometrial and cervical elasticity measurement in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy (EP), which could facilitate the diagnosis process. Researchers assessed myometrial and cervical elasticity values in women with EP, women with early intrauterine pregnancy (IP) and non-pregnant women. They applied transabdominal point shear wave elastography (pSWE) for elasticity measurements. They conducted a reliability study in 20 patients of the non-pregnant group. The data exhibit that quantitative assessment of the uterus elasticity applying pSWE does not appear to be an adequate diagnostic method for EP.
