The utility of 2-[18 F]FDG-PET/CT maximum SUV vs CT attenuation for directing bone biopsies
European Radiology Mar 12, 2021
Sebro R, et al. - In this IRB-approved retrospective study, researchers compared the accuracy of PET/CT parameters with CT parameters for directing bone biopsies. The sample consisted of 388 patients who underwent both 2-[18 F] FDG PET/CT and CT within 6 weeks before a bone biopsy. Data were reviewed from 388 patients. Biopsies of larger bone lesions and bone lesions with higher SUV max were more likely to display malignancy. Metabolic 2-[18 F]FDG PET/CT parameters have a higher clinical impact on bone biopsy planning compared with CT parameters.
