Malik O, et al. - The impact of regional, or neuraxial, anesthesia, relative to general anesthesia (GA), on perioperative morbidity and mortality, was assessed in patients undergoing below-knee amputations. Findings showed that although regional anesthesia, compared with GA, did not offer a mortality advantage but may attenuate the need for perioperative blood transfusions in such procedures.
