The use of porous tantalum augments for the reconstruction of acetabular defect in primary total hip arthroplasty

Ting-Xian L, et al. - Patients who underwent reconstruction of acetabular defects in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) using tantalum augments, were assessed for clinical and radiographic outcomes. Mean 5.1 years follow-up in those patients revealed satisfactory clinical and radiographic outcomes resulting from the use of porous tantalum augments combined with titanium shells. This approach conferred anatomical cup placement, simple operation, and a high rate of stable fixation.
