The use of anti-ulcer agents and the risk of chronic kidney disease: A meta-analysis
International Urology and Nephrology Jun 18, 2018
Sun J, et al. - Researchers analyzed data from the studies, identified by searching PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library up to July 1, 2017, that assessed the link between the use of different anti-ulcer agents and the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD), end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in various study populations. To investigate the heterogeneity of the meta-analysis, subgroup analysis and meta-regression analysis were also carried out. Analysis of 5 trials with a total of 662,624 individuals revealed an association of chronic PPI use, but not of H2RAs, with deterioration in kidney function.
