Crescini WM, et al. - In this single-centre retrospective cohort study, researchers determined the link between acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) and the intraoperative use of allogeneic blood products in paediatric cardiac surgery patients. Use of ANH resulted in reduced administration of blood products and lower postoperative blood losses, suggesting that ANH might be beneficial in reducing perioperative morbidity in this patient population.
