The timing of retears after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Sep 23, 2017
Chona DV, et al. - This study analyzed data pertaining to rotator cuff repair in order to determine the timing of retears following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Data reported that generally, an increase is noted in the retear rates for medium and large tears until at least 10-15 months postoperatively, after which they are likely to level off. Variability has been observed in the retear rates for massive tears, and these may follow a time course different from that of other tear sizes. Notably, data indicated that retear rates depend on size of the original tear.
