The short-term effect of subtenon sponge application vs subtenon irrigation of mitomycin-c on the outcomes of trabeculectomy with ex-press glaucoma filtration device: A randomized trial
Journal of Glaucoma Feb 11, 2018
Quist MS, et al. - The purpose of this research was to examine the success rates, complication rates, final intraocular pressure (IOP), and bleb characteristics between patients receiving subtenon mitomycin-C (MMC) application by sponge as compared to those receiving with irrigation. Improved short-term outcomes were possibly obtained by the application of subtenon MMC by irrigation. The irrigation method provided better IOP control and decreased the need for additional clinical/surgical intervention in the short-term following trabeculectomy, demonstrating a similar safety profile.
