The safety and efficacy of daylight photodynamic therapy in the treatment of actinic keratoses: A systematic review and meta-analysis

International Journal of Dermatology Feb 08, 2019

Zhao W, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, authors investigated the data (from 8 randomized controlled trials involving 424 subjects) to examine the safety and efficiency of daylight photodynamic therapy (DLPDT) in the treatment of actinic keratoses (AKs). They observed no significant difference between the lesion response rate and the mean lesion response in DLPDT and conventional photodynamic therapy (CPDT) treatments, comparatively. They noticed less pain among individuals who underwent DLPDT as compared to those who underwent CPDT. They concluded DLPDT, a safe and efficient system, which could assist in appropriate therapeutic method selection to treat AKs.
