The S sign: A new radiographic tool to aid in the diagnosis of slipped capital femoral epiphysis
The Journal of Emergency Medicine Mar 19, 2018
Rebich EJ, et al. - A new radiographic parameter was introduced in the diagnosis of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). Researchers referred it to as the S-sign, and analyzed its diagnostic utility on a frog-leg lateral radiograph. They realized that clinicians could more reliably and accurately diagnose an SCFE with increased awareness of the S-sign and a usage of the combined test. To diagnose an SCFE, clinicians are more frequently using the combined test, compared with solely relying on Klein's line, which was observed to be statistically significant.
