The rs12917707 polymorphism at the UMOD locus and glomerular filtration rate in individuals with type 2 diabetes: Evidence of heterogeneity across two different European populations
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Oct 11, 2017
Prudente S, et al. - This study explored the link between UMOD variability and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) from Italy. Among Italian diabetic patients, the absence of a strong link between rs12917707 and GFR, which was previously reported to be present among diabetic patients from Sweden, clearly indicated a heterogeneous effect across the two different samples. Overall, findings suggested that in some, but not all, populations, UMOD represents a strong genetic determinant of kidney function in T2D diabetics.
