The role of psychological factors in the perpetuation of pain intensity and disability in people with chronic shoulder pain: A systematic review
BMJ Open Apr 19, 2018
Martinez-Calderon J, et al. - The role of psychological factors was inspected by experts in the perpetuation of symptoms (pain intensity and disability) in people with chronic shoulder pain. Inclusion criteria included longitudinal studies with quantitative designs analysing the role of psychological factors on pain intensity, disability or both. It was disclosed that psychological factors could exert an impact on the perpetuation of pain intensity and disability, with very low evidence. Findings demonstrated that high levels of self-efficacy, resilience and expectations of recovery appeared to be notably related to low levels of pain intensity and disability.
