The role of preoperative radiologic severity, sensory testing, and temporal summation on chronic postoperative pain following total knee arthroplasty
The Clinical Journal of Pain Feb 14, 2018
Petersen KK, et al. - Researchers, in this work, investigated associations between preoperative temporal summation of pain (TSP), thermal sensitivity, and radiologic severity for the development of chronic postoperative pain after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Findings revealed that in Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients, preoperatively facilitated TSP was predictive of the development of chronic postoperative pain following TKA. Furthermore, this study for the first time identified an association between preoperative hypoalgesia to heat and the development of chronic postoperative pain following TKA.
