The role of negative affect on headache-related disability following traumatic physical injury
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Dec 08, 2017
Pacella ML, et al. - Researchers performed this prospective observational study to assess the role of acute postinjury negative affect (NA) on subacute and chronic headache-related disability above and beyond nonpsychiatric factors. Findings revealed that NA was consistent in predicting headache-related disability, however, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSS) alone proved a unique predictor above and beyond nonpsychiatric factors, depression, and anxiety. Thereby suggesting a correlation of early treatment of acute postinjury PTSS with reductions in disability and an association of negative physical health sequelae with PTSS and chronic headache.
