Wang S, et al. – This study assessed sepsis outcomes in relation to overweight (25 kg/m2 < BMI ≤ 29.9 kg/m2), obese (30 kg/m2 < BMI ≤ 39.9 kg/m2) and morbidly obese (BMI > 40 kg/m2) body mass indexes (BMIs). In septic patients, researchers observed an association of lower mortality with overweight BMI but not with obesity or morbid obesity.
