The role of endoscopic sphenopalatine ganglion block on nausea and vomiting after sinus surgery
American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy Jul 10, 2018
Abubaker AK, et al. - Researchers evaluated the prophylactic effect of bilateral endoscopic injection of lidocaine with epinephrine in the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients undergoing functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). Findings suggested that for reducing early PONV in endoscopic sinus surgery patients, SPG injection with lidocaine at the end of surgery was a safe, noninvasive, and an effective technique. Moreover, the incidence of severe vomiting and the number of vomiting episodes were decreased by SPG injection with lidocaine.
