The role and diagnostic potential of gastrokine 1 in gastric cancer

Koper-Lenkiewicz OM, et al. - To know the role and diagnostic capability of Gene for gastrokine 1 (GKN1) (a stomach-specific protein) in gastric cancer, authors researched PubMED databases. They found GKN1 expression beneficial in indicating the presence of neoplastic or inflammatory lesions in the gastric mucosa. A decline in KN1 expression in gastric tumor tissues and derived cell lines along with the induction of cells apoptosis due to its upregulation in cell lines of gastric cancer. They did not find any correlation between serum GKN1 concentration and the gender of candidates.
