The relationship between timing of prasugrel pretreatment and in-stent thrombus immediately after percutaneous coronary intervention for acute coronary syndrome: An optical coherence tomography study
Heart and Vessels Apr 28, 2018
Katayama Y, et al. - Researchers wanted to gain clarity regarding the optimal timing of pretreatment with prasugrel in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). They compared low-dose prasugrel administered at the time of ACS diagnosis (early prasugrel) vs administered immediately after diagnostic angiography prior to PCI for ACS (late prasugrel) by looking at in-stent thrombus volume immediately after PCI via optical coherence tomography (OCT). Significantly less in-stent thrombus/plaque protrusion immediately after PCI was seen when administering prasugrel at the time of diagnosis of ACS vs after the coronary angiography prior to PCI.
