The relationship between resited epidural catheters after secondary epidural catheter failure and vaginal delivery: A retrospective case‐control study
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Nov 10, 2020
Orbach‐Zinger S, Eidelman LA, Wazwaz SA, et al. - In this retrospective electronic medical review, researchers assessed the rate of normal vaginal delivery as well as operative delivery in parturients who had resited epidurals vs parturients with epidurals that were not resited. This analysis involved 35,984 attempted vaginal deliveries with 118 resited epidurals and 472 non‐resited epidurals. Epidurals that were regarded as effective but subsequently eliminated and reinserted were defined as resited epidurals. As per the findings of this single‐centre cohort analysis, requirement for labor epidural catheter replacement did not seem to be related to need for operative delivery.
