The relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and depressive symptoms in the general population in China: The TCLSIH cohort study
Helicobacter Oct 03, 2019
Gu Y, Zheng L, Kumari S, et al. - Among the general adult population, researchers conducted multiple logistic regression analysis to explore the connection between Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection and depressive symptoms. Participants in the study were 5,558 inhabitants of Tianjin, China. According to this cross-sectional study, depressive symptoms prevalence was 12.7% in men and 17.4% in women. This is the first large population study showing that H pylori infection was associated with symptoms of depression in adult women, but not in men. To examine the impact of H pylori infection on depressive symptoms in the future, further prospective studies or randomized trials are needed.
