The relationship between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and non-small cell lung cancer in the elderly
Cancer Medicine Jun 18, 2019
Wang P, et al. - Researchers analyzed retrospectively collected medical records of NSCLC patients with and without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), to compare survival between these patient populations. For this purpose, they used log-rank and Cox proportional hazard regression analyses. This study included overall 117 COPD-NSCLC and 93 non-COPD NSCLC patients. In this elderly population of patients with NSCLC, significantly poorer survival outcomes were observed in those with a diagnosis of COPD as compared to those without COPD.
