The relation between distant metastasis and genetic change type in stage IV lung adenocarcinoma patients at diagnosis
The Clinical Respiratory Journal Oct 01, 2020
Ermin S, Batum O, Güvenç MS, et al. - Researchers retrospectively analyzed stage IV lung adenocarcinoma patients with genetic changes in order to determine the link between the genetic change type and the initial distant metastasis in this patient population. Overall 845 patients with a median age of 62 (28‐88) participated in this study. Experts evaluated the association between genetic mutation change (EGFR, ALK or ROS‐1) and distant metastasis. Findings showed that patients with EGFR mutant lung adenocarcinoma more often developed lung and pleura metastasis, and ALK positive adenocarcinoma was associated with a more frequent occurrence of pleura metastasis. In addition, ALK positive lung adenocarcinoma resulted in greater multiple organ metastases.
