The pruritogenic mediator endothelin-1 shifts the dendritic cell–T-cell response toward Th17/Th1 polarization

Allergy Oct 03, 2017

Nakahara T, et al. - This study aimed to assess the role of endothelin-1 (ET-1) in inflammatory skin disease, explored the impacts of ET-1 on the functions of dendritic cells (DCs) and subsequent immune responses in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) or psoriasis. Findings were suggestive of polarization of DC–T-cell response towards Th17/1 differentiation by ET-1. Data also indicated that ET-1 may augment the persistent course of inflammatory skin diseases.
