The prognostic value of SUVmax measuring on primary lesion and ALN by 18F-FDG PET or PET/CT in patients with breast cancer
European Journal of Radiology May 23, 2018
Diao W, et al. - In this meta-analysis, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched to assess the prognostic value of maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) measured in the primary lesion and axillary lymph nodes (ALN) by pretreatment fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) or positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with breast cancer. Researchers included 15 eligible studies with three thousand, five hundred seventy-four breast cancer patients in this analysis. They reported that patients with high primary SUVmax could experience a higher risk for recurrence or a poor progression. In invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) patients, the SUVmax of 18F-FDG revealed a significant prognostic value.
