The prognostic value of sex-determining region Y-box 2 and CD8+ tumor- infiltrating lymphocytes in limited-stage small-cell lung cancer
Oncology Jun 13, 2021
Lee J, Jung YY, Lee JH, et al. - To understand the prognostic role of sex-determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2) and CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in limited-stage (LS)-small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), researchers herein evaluated the expression of SOX2 and CD8+ TILs in 75 patients with LS-SCLC. They found 52 (69.3%) and 40 (53.3%) patients had high SOX2 and CD8+ TIL levels, respectively. A significantly longer progression-free survival as well as overall survival was observed in patients with both high SOX2 expression and CD8+ TIL numbers, vs those from the other groups. Findings indicate that the combination of SOX2 and CD8+ TIL levels may have a prognostic value in LS-SCLC.
