The prognostic value of myocardial deformation in adult patients with corrected tetralogy of Fallot
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography May 08, 2019
van Grootel RWJ, et al. - In patients with tetralogy of Fallot (ToF), researchers investigated the association of strain variables with cardiovascular events. Between 2011 and 2013, a prospective observational study included stable adult patients with repaired ToF. According to results, apical rotation is linked to adverse events independently. In patients with ToF, myocardial deformation variables of both the left and right ventricles were related to cardiovascular events. Findings suggested that left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular longitudinal strain and LV rotation should become part of the routine evaluation of ToF patients.
